Configuration of LU e-mail in Microsoft Office Outlook 2013 (IMAP) and setting up alternate identity for outgoing e-mails

Now to configuration of LU e-mail in Microsoft's Outlook 2013 which is part of Office 2013 pack. Launch the Outlook 2013 application. A wizard is presented at the first run which will guide through the process. Click "Next".

Do you wish to start the configuration process. Click "Next"

In this step choose "Manual setup or additional server types" to start the manual setup. Click "Next".

Choose "POP or IMAP". Precise selection will be made in the next step. Click "Next".

Fill the required fields. If you have chosen to receive LU e-mail in LU e-mail system, settings are:


Your name - enter your name and surname, obviously. This field may contain diacritic symbols.
In the E-mail address field enter your e-mail address. If You are LU empoloyee you can enter your e-mail in form name.surname@lu.lv
In the Account type choose IMAP which has many advantages over other protocols.
Incoming mail server will be pophost.lanet.lv.
Outgoing mail server (SMTP) will be ezis.lanet.lv.
In the Username field enter your LU username.
Password - password, obviously.



But, alternately, if you have chosen to receive LU e-mail in Google Mail, the settings are as follows:


Your name - enter your name and surname, obviously. This field may contain diacritic symbols.
In the E-mail address field enter your e-mail address. If You are LU empoloyee you can enter your e-mail in form name.surname@lu.lv
In the Account type choose IMAP which has many advantages over other protocols.
Incoming mail server will be imap.google.com.
Outgoing mail server (SMTP) will be smtp.google.com.
In the Username field enter your username with trailing @lu.lv
Password - password, obviously.

If you may select the checkbox to remember the password.

Click "More settings", some other things need to be taken care of.

Enable the checkbox "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" in "Outgoing server" tab of the "Internet E-mail settings" window. Also, enter your LU username and password in the required fields. You may select whether to remember the password. Make sure that checkbox "Require secure password authentication (SPA)" is not checked.

Switch to "Advanced" tab.

In the "Advanced" tab both "Use the following type of encrypted connection" need to be changed to SSL.

Make sure that "Incoming mail (IMAP)" field has 993 and "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" field has 465 values.

Click OK.

In the "Add account" field click "Next".

If the network connection is fine, test displays a succesful connection message.

Click "Finish", everything is ready.

Setting up alternate identity for outgoing e-mails

Compose a new message.

Switch to "Options" tab and click "From".

Outlook 2013

Clicking on "From..." you can choose "Other E-mail address..."

Enter an e-mail address. This will be used when reciepient chooses to reply to this e-mail. Click OK.

Now we see an alternative e-mail next to "From" button. Next time you wish to use alternate identity, you simply select it by clicking on "From".

This way the reciepient will reply to this new e-mail.
